Rate Review Filings
As part of Obamacare market reforms, including greater transparency and accountability by insurance companies, states are encouraged to provide an online access point to insurers ACA-compliant health rate filings. A comprehensive database was developed in response to this request. Now, Montanans can use this database to search and review ACA-related filings submitted to the Commissioner of Securities and Insurance since 2010. All filings are subject to Montana's public access laws. While all ACA-related filings will display in the search, you will only be able to view the particular details of the filing if it was marked eligible for public access by the Montana insurance department.
Health insurance companies must justify proposed rates and submit a new consumer-friendly explanation/justification about any rate increases in the individual market to the Commissioner of Insurance so that the public can make comments on the proposed rates. Please provide your input. Comments will be made public.
