Registration requirements

Most of the firms conducting business in Montana are members of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the industry's self-regulatory body. Therefore, the Montana Securities Department uses the FINRA's Central Registration Depository to register FINRA member firms. All of the paperwork and fees are submitted to the CRD. If, however, your firm is not an FINRA member firm, send the required materials to the department at the address listed below.

The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) is a good resource for securities registration information. You may go to the "exams" pull-down menu for information on FINRA examination structure as well as study guide outlines.
