Robert Morrison arrested for fraudulent securities practices Defrauded Montana residents
Robert Morrison of British Columbia was arrested in Lewis and Clark County Friday on felony charges of fraudulent securities practices committed during 1999 and 2000.
The Fergus County attorney filed charges against Robert Morrison Aug. 29, based upon an investigation by the State Auditor's Office. The charging documents allege Robert Morrison defrauded Montana citizens out of assets and ownership of a $22.5 million bentonite mine in Valley County, by exchanging stocks in that mine for worthless stocks in an Argentine mine that he has no involvement with.
District Judge Gary Day set bond at $100,000. Robert Morrison, no relation to State Auditor John Morrison, is scheduled to make an initial appearance next week.
